The Inquisition
What did the ocean do to you
Before you frolicked in its shores,
Before you shuffled into its depth
And then there was need for help?
What did the kite do to you
Before you took a roast fish
In your grip?
Kites seldom pick fish live
Out of the deep waters.
What did animosity do to you
Except to check the trees in silence,
Before you drank of its cupful
And now you are pulling down cities?

The Picture
See what happened to you:
You see a greasy bone
In the cattle camp dust,
And walk on with the same
Countenance,
Yet you jerk upon seeing the picture
Of a dead boy.
